Fort Wayne’s Hunsche CPA Group acquires Huntington firm

Fort Wayne-based accounting firm Hunsche CPA Group is expanding in northeast Indiana with its acquisition of Carnes Company CPA in Huntington. Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.Hunsche CPA Group is a locally owned full-service CPA firm offering payroll, bookkeeping, tax preparation, tax planning, consulting and advisory services. The group will be stepping into the Carnes Company CPA office, located at 430 N. Jefferson Street in downtown Huntington. Tom Carnes, owner of Carnes Company CPA and a Huntington native, established his practice in 1985. He and his team will stay on to continue to help serve their clients and to help with the transition to Hunsche CPA Group. Michael Hunsche, CPA, Managing Director of Hunsche CPA Group, says, “It has always been my aim to broaden access to our services for small businesses around the region. Tom has built a remarkable business and we look forward to working with him and his clients.” And the focus remains the same for Hunsche throughout the growth. “As we have done throughout our business journey, we will continue to provide small-town common-sense services with big city resources,” he adds. The new combined firm will have just under 20 employees with the goal of hiring at least two more by the end of the year. Michael Hunsche graduated from Ball State University in 2001 and opened Hunsche CPA Group in 2017 armed with the experience gained working in the local accounting field.
