The South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership commissioned the survey, which also looks at compensation levels and practices of 143 companies who employ collectively more than 40,000 workers in the eight-county region.
The partnership says survey participants included a variety of large, medium and small employers. Multiple industries were represented in the survey, including manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, among others.
“The diversity of participants and regional focus make the report a valuable tool for supporting the growth of existing employers and attracting new investment to the region,” said South Bend – Elkhart Regional Partnership President and Chief Executive Officer Regina Emberton. “The report demonstrates the competitive workforce practices of employers in the South Bend – Elkhart region.”
The survey collected data about benefits packages, including health care costs paid by employers and employees, retirement benefits, and time off. Emberton says the report will help economic development organizations recruit investment in the area and help employers see how their compensation packages compare to other employers.
The data was collected by Boston-based Emsi Burning Glass, a labor market analytics firm.
