Edinburgh Looks for Economic Development Support

Subscribe NowThe Bartholomew County town of Edinburgh says it doesn’t want to miss out on opportunities for economic growth, so it is taking steps to join the Greater Columbus Economic Development Corp. Our partners at the Daily Journal report the town of 4,400 people is looking for support to recruit and retain businesses in the area.
The publication says the move was recently discussed by the Edinburgh Town Council, which supported the idea. The community is part of three counties and town leaders had to decide which economic development corporation to work with.
“To be honest with you, even though the majority of our town is in Johnson County, I think it’s more beneficial for us to be involved in the Bartholomew County Economic Development Corp. because all of our industrial park is in Bartholomew County,” said Edinburgh Town Manager Dan Cartwright. The other county is Shelby.
The publication says the cost to join the economic group is $7,000 annually, but the town would only need to pay half that amount since it would be joining halfway through the year.
