Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report America’s Antique Mall is expected to open in September at the Highland Ultra Plaza, which had previously gone into foreclosure.
The 55,000-square-foot antique mall will be located at the site of the former Gold’s Gym and Big Lots spaces at the outdoor shopping mall, according to the publication. The location will include some 300 locked showcases and 300 booths featuring antiques, vintage collectibles, and memorabilia, among other items.
America’s Antique Mall currently has a location in Florida and Julie Coppedge, founder and chief creative officer, says she hopes to have about 10 locations around the U.S. within the next five years.
Coppedge says they plan to begin hiring associates for the Highland location later this month and vendors are currently being sought as well.
“Our manager, Melanie Mackenzie, has been busy signing up vendors and creating a community with a variety of goods to offer from antiques and vintage to custom-made goods and items curated for home decor,” Coppedge told The Times. “We have sold out in many of the booth sizes but still have a couple of 8-by-11 booths. We still have 10-by-10 and 10-by-11 and a few larger booth sizes as well as locked cases for qualified vendors to rent.”
Coppedge says construction is on pace to allow vendors to move in by mid-August with the antique mall opening to shoppers sometime in September.
