Cummins Launches Own COVID Vaccination Program

Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) is one of about a dozen large manufacturers in Indiana conducting its own mass vaccination campaign against COVID-19. 

The Republic reports the company has received 2,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and has started vaccinating employees. It plans to hold mobile vaccine clinics at five of its facilities in southern Indiana.

Employees, contingent workers, spouses and dependents age 16 and up are eligible to receive the vaccine.

Last week, the Indiana State Department of Health said it was working with certain, large, Hoosier businesses on implementing their own COVID-19 vaccination clinics. Initially, the state is focused on businesses with more than 1,000 employees.

“The majority of these companies have in-house or third-party health partners who administer the vaccinations to their employees and the sites will receive primarily the Pfizer vaccine,” said Dr. Lindsay Weaver, chief medical officer for the ISDH.

Cummins employs about 10,000 people in Indiana, including about 8,000 in the Columbus area.
