Chicago-based Veo, a shared mobility company, has released 200 e-scooters and pedal bikes in downtown Fort Wayne. The city says the e-scooters and bikes were popular enough over the 16 months of an initial pilot program that the program has returned.

The city says the devices are available immediately. 

Veo has a permit from the city as part of an ongoing pilot program created to test the viability of electric scooters as a mobility option in the city. City staff and stakeholders have extended the pilot for an additional year to further test and improve the system without the complications of a pandemic.

Last year, the city says there were 110,000 unique riders, 200,000 different rides and 350,000 miles ridden.

The city says no tax dollars support the program. Veo is responsible for all equipment and liability.
