The company says the variants can be found by using the test developed by Philadelphia-based Biomeme Inc.
Aria says the mutations, which started being reported earlier this month, are spreading around the world quickly and cases have already been reported in the U.S., including Indiana.
“Different variants of Sars-CoV-2 (the virus that causes the disease COVID-19) are emerging, which is normal as viruses continuously mutate,” said Vipin Adhlakha, president of Aria Diagnostics. “Usually, the changes either have no impact or are harmful to the virus. But once in a while, there are changes that give the virus an advantage. This is what has happened with the SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern. These variants spread more easily.”
Aria says it continues to work in partnership with healthcare organizations to provide the necessary testing with real-time results to help diagnose and prescribe treatment for patients.
Aria Diagnostics says those wishing to receive a test can schedule an appointment online.
