Bonds, who currently serves as deputy executive director and has been with the organization since 2014, will begin his new role at the end of February.
Bonds will succeed Julian Marsh, who is finishing his assignment from the Department of Housing and Urban Development as the GHA comes out of receivership. The GHA is one of only two public housing authorities in the country currently under a HUD receivership.
“Taryl is a great fit for this position,” Marsh said in a news release. “He loves the city and its residents, but most important, he has a vision of greatness for Gary and will stop at nothing to accomplish the goals of GHA.”
Prior to joining the GHA, Bonds held roles with the Housing Authority of Cook County in Illinois, the U.S. Department of Labor’s federal Contract Compliance Program, and the East Chicago Housing Authority.
