According to information from a Leidos spokesperson, the WARN notice issued to employees is just a formality. “We don’t truly believe that any employee on this program is at risk of losing their job. But due to WARN reporting requirements, Leidos has to provide these formal notices to our employee population. Although the program is set to end on November 30th, the follow-on contract will begin the next day on December 1, 2020.”
The company provides information technology, engineering, and science solutions for defense, intelligence, and homeland security markets. Leidos did not disclose which positions would be affected by the layoffs.
The layoffs are expected to be permanent. The company says the affected employees do not have bumping rights.
