Re-Employment Tool Launched in Marion County

EmployIndy and Ascend Indiana say the online portal, Ascend Network, is a centralized location for dislocated workers to connect with available jobs or training opportunities.
The free digital tool is part of the Rapid Re-Employment Response plan which was developed in response to the economic challenges of the pandemic.
“By connecting individuals in real-time to open jobs; subsidized in-demand training; and partners like WorkOne Indy and community-based organizations, job seekers have many resources that can help them navigate a path forward,” said Angela Carr Klitzsch, president and chief executive officer of EmployIndy.
From March to June, 120,000 Marion County residents filed for unemployment. Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett says the online tool will help many of those Hoosiers not only find jobs but better positions than what they had before the pandemic.
“This solution will provide resources and connections for Indianapolis residents of all educational backgrounds, connecting individuals with higher-paying jobs and providing them the skills and resources to further their career,” said Hogsett.
Job seekers will log into the platform and follow a streamlined process to connect with needed career services.
According to EmployIndy, whether the job seeker is looking for a job now or receiving career readiness resources, they will get personalized support through the process.
Ascend Indiana and EmployIndy say they have adapted the system to serve job seekers with a variety of experience and education. The adjustments allow employers to connect with a broader pool of talent by rapidly re-employing individuals who have been displaced by the pandemic.
“We must create systems to rebuild our post-pandemic economy so that everyone, especially those left out of economic recovery in the past, have access to opportunities that will lead to prosperity for them and their families,” said Jason Kloth, president and CEO, Ascend Indiana
Indy Chamber President and CEO Michael Huber says this tool also helps employers looking to fill jobs quickly.
“Certain sub-sectors of manufacturing are hiring and they’re scaling up really fast. And so, we are urging the businesses in our network and more generally, to look very seriously and in many cases enroll in this rapid reemployment response solution,” said Huber
