The Indy Chamber’s ReEntry Entrepreneurship Development Initiative is planning its third public pitch competition for formerly-incarcerated entrepreneurs in central Indiana. The organization says REDi, which is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, provides technical business training and education to individuals both inside and outside of the prison system.

At this year’s REDi Pitch Night, the chamber says five entrepreneurs will be selected to compete for $2,500 and a package of professional services from in-kind sponsors. The competition will be held virtually on September 16.

The Indy Chamber says the competition’s goal is to lower the barriers to self-sufficiency and break the link between incarceration and poverty.

Applications are now open to any entrepreneur with a criminal history, whether they are pitching an existing business or a new idea. The chamber says applications are due August 31.
