(NYSE: NI).
The IURC says the penalties stem from pipeline safety violations occurring in 2018. The commission says the utility failed to locate or mark pipelines in two days as required.
According to the order, the civil penalties are part of an original settlement agreement between NIPSCO and the Commission’s Pipeline Safety Division in which the natural gas company paid $900,000 for previous violations dating back to 2015.
All funds collected from approved civil penalties will go directly to the state’s General Fund, according to the IURC.
