Rolls-Royce, UAW Agree to Five Year Contract

Details of the contract were not disclosed.
Rolls-Royce designs, manufactures, and tests a variety of engines for military and civilian purposes. Approximately 4,000 work in central Indiana.
The company says it has nearly completed a $600 million modernization, which it says will help the company compete for new military contracts.
“With a new 5-year agreement in place, the UAW and Rolls-Royce have committed to work together. We take great pride in supporting the U.S. military,” said John Snow, UAW Local 933 bargaining chairman.
“These are exciting times and we are well positioned for key opportunities such as the U.S. Air Force B-52 re-engining campaign and the Army Future Vertical Lift program,” said Tom Bell, chairman and chief executive officer of Rolls-Royce North America. “That will fuel growth in our Indianapolis operations and create a bright future for the company and our workforce.”
Rolls-Royce is one of three engine makers submitting proposals to the U.S. Air Force for its B-52 engine replacement program.
The USAF says it intends to award the contract in June 2021.
