State Secures More PPE for Healthcare Providers

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says it has secured commitments for more than 6.3 million pieces of personal protective equipment for hospitals, first responders, and long-term care facilities. The number is up from 2.6 million, which was reported on April 13.

The IEDC says nearly 1.2 million items have been delivered to the Indiana State Department of Health for distribution to date.

The items include face masks, face shields, gloves, gowns, goggles, and bottles of hand sanitizer. Out of the new overall number, the state says more than 2.9 million items were made and sourced by 18 Hoosier manufacturers.

Some of the new commitments were made from Indiana companies, including:

• After Action Medical and Dental Supply (Marion County): Providing more than 400,000 nitrile gloves.
• Cardinal Spirits (Monroe County): Distributing 50,000 gallons of hand sanitizer.
• Sugar Creek Bottling Co. (Marion County): Providing hand sanitizer.
• Hentz Manufacturing (Allen County): Has already produced and distributed 90,000 PPE items, including gowns, face masks and face shields. Now producing N95 face mask respirators with the goal of 1 million.

The IEDC adds PPE donations now total more than 530,000 with new contributors including Evansville-based Berry Global Group, Ivy Tech Community College and Pacers Sports & Entertainment.
