(NYSE: LLY) is joining with Governor Eric Holcomb and Mayor Joe Hogsett in the recently-announced #INthistogether social distancing campaign. Tiffany Benjamin, senior director for corporate social responsibility and global health for Lilly, says social distancing is key to combating COVID-19 and the company is looking to further the push for Hoosiers to practice it.
Benjamin, who also serves as president of the Lilly Foundation, talked about the campaign in an interview with Inside INdiana Business. She says while the company is focusing on testing and searching for a way to fight the disease, those efforts are not enough.
“Encouraging us all to participate in spreading the word and not the virus is really another important component in helping to make sure that people don’t get COVID-19 and also to protect the public, including our healthcare professionals,” Benjamin said.
Governor Eric Holcomb announced the campaign Wednesday during his daily news briefing. Benjamin says the most important aspect of the social distancing campaign is to tell as many people about it as possible.
“Yesterday, we were thrilled to see so many people on social media sharing. We really think it’s important for people to just keep talking about social distancing, reminding us that we can all do this and we’re all in it together and if we just keeping sharing that and just hold tight even though sometimes we know it’s hard, we can really make a difference not just for ourselves and our families, but everybody in our state.”
Benjamin says the campaign adds to the efforts Lilly has made in fighting COVID-19.
