Women’s Fund Awards Emergency Grant to Diaper Bank

Indianapolis-based nonprofit Indiana Diaper Bank has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana to help with demand.
The fund will provide emergency grants to organizations that support women and girls affected by the impact of COVID-19. The diaper bank was the first recipient.
“We are already seeing a rapid change in accessibility from manufacturers,” said Rachael Suskovich, chief executive officer, Indiana Diaper Bank. “I anticipate regulations will continue to tighten, making it even harder to receive supplies. With threats of layoffs and the business closures, we anticipate the need for basic baby essentials will increase among our most vulnerable families.”
Suskovich says with the $10,000 emergency grant, it will be able to provide diapers and wipes for 2,500 children throughout central Indiana, with each family receiving a bundle of diapers.
Indiana Diaper Bank says one in three families report not having enough diapers to keep their children clean, healthy and dry.
Suskovich says a family will spend on average $100 per month on diapers.
The Women’s Fund of Central Indiana says its Emergency Relief Fund is being distributed quickly and intentionally through an invitation-only process.
