Lilly Expands Drive-Thru Testing to First Responders

(NYSE: LLY) is expanding its drive-through testing for the virus that causes COVID-19. The company says first responders in Indianapolis will now be able to receive the test, in addition to healthcare workers in the area.
Lilly says the new group eligible for testing includes public safety, fire and ambulance personnel. Testing will be determined and directed by the occupational health provider for each individual agency.
The drive-through testing site at Lilly’s headquarters is not currently available to the general public. The company says, because many healthcare workers and first responders are unable to receive testing through existing diagnostic facilities, “Lilly is initially focused on addressing this urgent unmet need.”
“Lilly is doing everything we can to attack this global pandemic, and we’re committed to help slow the spread of the virus here in our home community,” Lilly Chief Executive Officer David Ricks said in a news release. “By expanding testing to first-line responders, we hope to help protect the people that we rely on for the safety of us all.”
Last Wednesday, Lilly detailed a partnership with the Indiana State Department of Health to utilize a facility at Lilly Research Laboratories to conduct additional testing.
