The Vigo County Capital Improvement Board has announced the Larry Bird Museum will be located inside the planned Terre Haute Convention Center.
The museum was announced during a VIP press conference Saturday in Terre Haute, which included remarks from Governor Eric Holcomb and CIB member Greg Gibson. State Senator Jon Ford (R-38) and additional CIB members were also on hand for the event.
The CIB says the museum will be the only one sanctioned by Larry Bird in the state of Indiana and will be a unique asset to the convention center and the state. Specific details of the museum were not released.
The $25 million convention center project is still in the planning stages, however a preliminary schedule released by the CIB in July projected the venue could open by the summer of 2020.
