(NYSE: ZBH) are being relocated to Whitley County more than four months after Hurricane Maria devastated the U.S. territory. Our partners at WPTA21 in Fort Wayne report the workers are transferring to the company’s main campus in Warsaw and will live with their families in nearby Columbia City.
Parts of Puerto Rico still don’t have reliable power. Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel says around 200 people will move to his community as a result of the relocation. Daniel adds "very rarely do you have a small community like ours have had this opportunity where multiple families, 45 families, end up coming to our community. And we want to make sure they can plant roots here."
The Whitley County Chamber of Commerce is planning a resource fair in the coming weeks to help relocated Puerto Ricans adjust to life in northeast Indiana.
