A spokesperson for the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis tells Inside INdiana Business the organization has signed a preliminary agreement with Westfield Washington Schools to construct a $35 million YMCA branch that will include an Olympic-sized natatorium. The development, which remains subject to various approvals and fundraising, would be located near Grand Park Sports Campus.
If approved, construction could begin in the spring of 2019 and be complete by the fall of 2020. YMCA spokesperson Christy Glesing says the YMCA would fund up to $20 million for the branch, while Westfield Schools would provide $15 million for the natatorium.
The YMCA plans to begin a fundraising campaign to cover its portion of the cost, while the school district says it has the funding on hand for its part. A timeline for the approvals needed for the project has not been released.
