A five month national search has culminated in Derrick Stewart being named to the position. He will take over for Eric Ellsworth, who will step down in February after 13 years.
Stewart has been the president and CEO at YMCA of Southwestern Indiana for the last decade. Prior to that he worked in various positions with Old National Bank and Arthur Anderson. His new role includes responsibility for the Y’s strategic plan, continuing capital campaigns for the Westfield YMCA and new cabins and infrastructure at Flat Rock River YMCA & Camp.
“I am thrilled to join the YMCA family in Indianapolis and to have the opportunity to work with such a passionate and committed team of staff and volunteers,” said Stewart. “I believe in the power of the Y to be a force for good in the communities we serve and will work diligently to expand the mission and impact of the YMCA in Central Indiana”, said Stewart.
The Evansville-native takes over his new role on February 4.
