The foundation said, when complete, the $5 million Montgomery County Early Learning Center will add 124 high-quality child care seats for infants through age five.
The center will be located in a former county government office building at 110 W. South Boulevard that is being completely remodeled and adapted to exceed state licensing requirements. The foundation added that the facility will meet accreditation standards for the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
The Early Learning Center will be operated by Oregon-based KinderCare, which operates more than 30 early education and daycare centers in Indiana. The company expects to add more than 30 jobs at the new facility.
“This center and the incredible leadership by MCCF to make this partnership possible, will undoubtedly serve as a model to communities across the country,” KinderCare Vice President Patrick Murray said in a news release.
The foundation said the county is currently only able to serve less than 20% of children under the age of five with high-quality care, creating challenges for employers, employees and families.
“This new facility is about laying the foundation for a brighter future,” said Kelly Taylor, CEO of the Montgomery County Community Foundation. “It’s a wise investment in our children’s future and provides an exceptional environment for them to thrive.”
Work on the new Early Learning Center is slated for completion by spring 2025.
