The station, an affiliate of The CW Network owned by Nexstar Media Group Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST), says it will add a 4:00 p.m. weekday news broadcast beginning this fall.
The addition brings the number of weekly hours of news programming to 75 for WISH. Randy Ingram, vice president and general manager of WISH, says more than half of the station’s broadcast day will consist of live, local programming.
"The one-hour live broadcast will incorporate the daily news and weather viewers depend on from News 8, but presented in a format different from our 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. newscasts,” WISH-TV News Director Al Carl said in a news release. "This broadcast will utilize our digital and social media platforms to engage directly with our audience."
Ingram adds the station will bring on additional content and on-air staff to support the expansion, though specific numbers were not provided.
