In October, the global organization announced it would accept proposals for a new region headquarters following a decision to relocate from a longtime spot on the east side of Indianapolis.
Little League International said the new location must suit its "evolving needs, and to allow Little League to continue to provide a family-friendly environment for the tournaments and events held each year at the complex." The headquarters plays host each year to the Little League Baseball Great Lakes and Midwest Region Championships, as well as the Little League Softball Central Region Championships. Chief Executive Officer Stephen Keener says the organization seeks a location with adequate facilities, strong infrastructure and a supporting community.
Grand Park Director William Knox says "when it was announced in October that Little League was looking to relocate its Central Region headquarters, we were immediately interested in being considered. We’re hopeful that our proposal makes a compelling case that Grand Park and Westfield would be ideal partners for their organization, due to our state-of-the-art sporting facilities and our shared focus on youth sports."
The 400-acre campus includes 26 baseball and softball diamonds, 31 outdoor multipurpose fields, an events center with indoor soccer fields and The Jonathan Byrd’s Fieldhouse indoor basketball and volleyball facility.
The league is expected to name the next location sometime next year.
