Subscribe NowOne Southern Indiana President and Chief Executive Officer Wendy Dant Chesser has been elected chair of the Indiana Economic Development Association board of directors. She has spent the past two years as an IEDA officer, serving as vice chair and secretary. Dant Chesser was also the chair and a member-at-large of the organization’s legislative committee.
The Indiana Economic Development Association Inc. is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018. It is a statewide not-for-profit economic development organization with approximately 400 members. The purpose of the association is to provide on-going education for its members and a forum for the exchange of ideas and best practices. It also provides opportunities for interaction with legislators and state officials and works hard to promote state and federal policies that support a positive business climate to help existing businesses flourish and attract new businesses to the state.
Dant Chesser has been president and CEO of 1si since 2012, after serving as president of Cornerstone Alliance in Michigan. Prior to her move to Michigan, she worked in various aspects of economic development for more than seven years with the State of Indiana and spent the last year of her government career as deputy executive director for program operations of the Indiana Department of Commerce.
She was named Indiana Chamber Executives Association’s Chamber Executive of the Year in 2016 and one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers of 2015 by Consultant Connect. Dant Chesser was awarded the 2000 Outstanding Young Hoosier Award from the Indiana Jaycees and was honored by Western Michigan Business Review’s “Business Leaders Under 40.”
