Welch Packaging says it is installing a new corrugator line in an existing facility on the city’s northwest side and plans to create at least 50 jobs.
Corrugating is the process of creating sheets of board that can then be converted into boxes. Welch says the expansion will grow its ability to create custom packaging for customers.
”Welch Packaging has always focused on corrugated packaging solutions for our customers,”
Founder and President Scott Welch said in written remarks. “This new operation will enable us to improve the customer experience while continuing to make a difference for our associates and the communities in which we live.”
The new corrugator is expected to be operational in August. The company says it acquired the entire building and plans to occupy the entire space by 2024.
The new facility is located just north of Welch’s existing converting plant in Indy. Financial terms of the expansion are not being disclosed.
Welch Packaging has another corrugator at its Elkhart location.
