John Wechsler says the annual FailFest event will now take place on a quarterly basis.
"For 2017, we are going to put it on a rhythm of every 90 days," said Wechsler. "The idea is that if we can hit a regular rhythm of events, we can keep a good pipeline of speakers. Attendees can count on it a little bit more, and it also gives us the ability to theme it."
Wechsler also says the new FailFest format will give participants more of an opportunity to engage with speakers.
"One of the things we have heard a lot from attendees over the last couple of years is the more interactive we can make it the better. The more hands on the better. And so we are looking to do breakouts and give speakers the ability to connect more directly with the attendees."
When asked if the goal of FailFest has shifted since its inception in 2014, Wechsler said, "What we’re going to try to do is design the events so that they’re suitable for consumption after-the-fact. Imagine Ted- type talks where we have got little 15 minute snippets of stories that we can link together and learning tracks for participants after-the-fact. Our speakers can use them to highlight their career successes and failures, and what they learned from it. So what we’re really trying to do is just continue that dialogue beyond just the event. Create more of an ongoing conversation."
