The university says the money will be used to support continued efforts aimed at increasing diversity.
The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy says Manchester had 18.4 percent minority students in 2014, the most of any pharmacy school in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Figures for 2015 are not yet available.
The university says it will use the money to provide scholarships and further develop and enhance outreach programs and campus activities to ensure diversity and inclusion in its pharmacy program. The College of Pharmacy, Natural and Health Sciences will graduate its first class in May.
The donation is the latest from Walgreens, which has donated over $1 million each year since 2008 to accredited pharmacy schools nationwide.
