The company opened a new facility earlier this year at its Lafayette headquarters dedicated to production of truck bodies. Commercial Trailer Products Group President Brent Yeagy says the manufacturer will continue to ramp up dry and refrigerated truck body production over the next year and a half.
Yeagy says current production is limited. Wabash National is debuting its refrigerated model this week at the International Foodservice Distributors Association Distribution Solutions Conference in Arizona.
In February, the company announced record full-year net income of nearly $70 million, a jump of more than $23 million compared to 2013.
Late last year, Wabash National expanded in Frankfort with a $2 million investment in a former Sun Chemicals facility. Plans call for more than 100 new jobs at the operation within five years.
The company says the new line coincides with a "surge" in e-commerce, reshoring, re-urbanization and regulatory changes.
Yeagy adds “as the transportation industry is faced with increasing regulations and rapidly changing shipper needs, we’re focused on supporting customers with breakthrough designs that reduce weight, improve thermal and fuel efficiencies, reduce material costs, enhance corrosion resistance and improve safety. These product offerings are another step toward that goal."
