Grow Wabash County kicked off its “Growth Starts Here” effort in October.
“We’ve reached our $1 million goal quicker than any of us could have imagined,” said Keith Gillenwater, president and chief executive officer of Grow Wabash County. “We are thrilled that commitments continue to roll in and we’re excited that the community has bought into the big picture initiatives and projects that Grow Wabash County is spear-heading.”
Since last fall, the organization has been connecting with its investors and community leaders to raise the money for programs and initiatives to promote its five main pillars: entrepreneurship; workforce development & talent attraction; business development; livability; and investor services.
“The organizations and individuals who supported this campaign continue to answer the call time and time again to be the premier example of what a real community can be,” said Parker Beauchamp, campaign chair.
Beauchamp says 40 different investors are supporting the campaign.
Gillenwater says money from the first pledge was put towards one of the key initiatives for the organization, a comprehensive population loss study.
Last week, community leaders launched the Imagine One85 initiative, an effort to pool resources to reverse the declining number of residents.
“From there, we’ve been working to implement the recommendations of the study which align closely,” said Gillenwater.
