Visit South Bend Mishawaka Director to Step Down

DeCleene leaving to join Indiana University South Bend as vice chancellor for university relations and advancement.
“Rob is a fixture in our community and understands personally what Hoosier Spirit and Titan Pride means,” said IUSB Chancellor Susan Elrod. “The IU South Bend community and I are looking forward to Rob’s leadership to advance the goals of IU South Bend and create an even stronger culture of philanthropy for our campus.”
South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer Jeff Rea is leading VSBM’s search and recruitment efforts for its next executive director.
“Rob has been an integral part of our team for the last 12 years, building VSBM into one of the top destination marketing organizations in the country,” said Rea. “We want to congratulate Rob on this opportunity. It is a great fit and we wish him well. We’re thrilled he’ll be staying in our community and look forward to working with him in his new role.”
During his time with the organization, VSBM says DeCleene grew the staff, budget and the organization’s scope.
“Twelve years ago, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime to return to South Bend and assume my role at VSBM,” said DeCleene. “It’s been the privilege of my life to serve in this role and accomplish some great things with my extremely talented team. As a proud native of South Bend and IU alum, I’m thrilled to stay in my hometown and serve my community and alma mater.”
DeCleene’s last day with the organization will be May 13. He is expected to begin his new role at IUSB on June 1.
