Stemle will succeed Christian Blome, who is stepping down to become assistance vice president of talent and training solutions at Bloomington-based Regional Opportunity Initiatives.
A native of Dubois County, the university said in a news release that Stemle’s roots in the community and experience at VU make her the “perfect candidate to ensure a smooth transition and continued success at VU Jasper.”
“Stephanie’s knowledge and experience at VU along with her strategic expertise make her a natural choice for this interim role,” President Chuck Johnson said in the release. “Her local knowledge and track record of helping to develop innovative partnerships inside and outside the university will be invaluable as we navigate this transition and assure that VUJ will be in good hands.”
In her current position, Stemle serves as a liaison to all levels of state government and represents the university in public meetings and prepares VU’s operating and capital budget requests, among other duties.
VU said she also led the expansion of the university’s Office of Grant Administration.
Stemle will take over the job when Blome officially steps down on July 16.
