The Vigo County Historical Society and Museum says the Vigo County Council has approved funding for the exhibit, which will be a part of the History Center in Terre Haute, which is currently under construction.
The council has approved $50,000 for the exhibit, which was first recommended by the Vigo County Commissioners. The exhibit will feature the full history of the county, starting with prehistoric and Native American history.
"One aspect of the History Center that we are excited about is the ability to change exhibits and feature different artifacts and stories from our community," said Susan Tingley, development director at the VCHS. "Exhibit and program space will allow for a richer telling of our heritage, and we are grateful that the Commissioners and Council understand and support this valuable community asset."
The new History Center will be located at the former Ehrmann Manufacturing Co. building, which was built in 1895. It is scheduled to open in the spring of 2019. You can learn more about the new facility by clicking here.
