The five-year grant will support the Fort Wayne-based university’s Project Catalyst.
The Project Catalyst program is designed to increase support for low-income students, first-generation students, Black and Hispanic students, and associate of science and exploratory health care students in USF’s College of Health Sciences.
“Our top priority at Saint Francis is to promote the best route to success for our students,” Saint Francis Interim President Dr. Lance Richey said in a news release. “Project Catalyst will help us deliver on our promise to help students who need additional support and opportunities to achieve academic and career goals.”
USF said it plans to use the funding to make several hires that will work to develop summer bridge programming, student coaching, and career-focused guided degree pathways with the goal if supporting student retention.
The grant will also support “culturally responsive” professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
