Northwest State students who complete an associate degree in either early childhood development or applied science-paraprofessional education can be accepted into USF’s Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies as a junior. Students can later enroll in the Transition to Teaching or master’s level program to earn their license.
Of the 120 needed credits for a Saint Francis bachelor’s degree, about half of the credits needed can be transferred, the university said.
“NSCC is excited to partner with Saint Francis to improve the education field by providing high-quality teacher candidates in our communities,” Amy Thomas, NSCC education faculty and coordinator of ODE Associate Licensure Programs, said in a news release. “We are happy to be able to provide multiple options for students and this agreement with Saint Francis will do just that.”
A new Northwest State campus is opening in spring 2025 in Van Wert, Ohio, which is 45 minutes from the Saint Francis campus.
“The University of Saint Francis continues to pursue connections and opportunities that will benefit our students and provide them with the best opportunity to succeed,” Saint Francis President Lance Richey said in the release.
The partnership begins next fall.
