Siegfried joins UE from California State University Bakersfield where he served as director of athletics and associate vice president for student affairs since 2015.
At CSUB, UE says Siegfried led an athletic program comprised of 16 varsity sports programs with more than 300 student-athletes and 90 employees. During his tenure, Siegfried is credited with securing an invitation for CSUB to join the Big West Conference.
“We hired a leader with a proven track record of success for our athletic department, our University, and our community,” said University of Evansville President Christopher Pietruszkiewicz. “We said we would hire the right person for UE — and we did.”
Siegfried serves on the Big West Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, as well as the D1-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Team Committee.
“I am excited to lead a talented group of student-athletes, coaches, and staff members as we strive to be the best at what we do in the classroom, in competition, and in the community,” said Siegfried. “The Purple Aces are Evansville’s team, and we are going to actively engage our community from day one.”
Siegfried succeeds Mark Spencer, who announced last month he was stepping down. The announcement followed reports that his contract was not expected to be renewed.
