The company says the signage, which will rely on a mix of sensors and cameras, will provide commercial drivers an approximate count of the available parking spaces along the roadway.
The company says the boards show available spaces at the three nearest facilities.
“Our goal is to give commercial drivers the opportunity to plan their trips more accurately,” said Rick Fedder, ITRCC’s chief operating officer. “The information will assist in reducing congestion at our parking facilities while also empowering drivers to make quality choices about when, and where, they choose to rest.”
The company says an accurate count of available parking spots can save time and decrease driver fatigue.
The signage was deployed by Nebraska-based eX² Technology, which previously helped develop a high-speed fiber corridor along the toll road.
