HealthTrackRx says it will invest nearly $3.5 million to establish a 10,000-square-foot testing facility in Clarksville and create up to 63 jobs.
HealthTrackRx bills itself as the nation’s leading molecular PCR-based infectious disease laboratory. The company provides testing services for thousands of clinicians across the country.
Chief Executive Officer Martin Price says the expansion is a strategic investment for the company. The Clarksville location was chosen due to its proximity to the UPS Worldport cargo hub in Louisville, Ky. in order deliver next-day results to patients nationwide.
One Southern Indiana, the economic development and chamber of commerce organization for Clark and Floyd Counties, says the new jobs will pay “well above” the average wage in Clark County and the facility will have room for future expansion.
“Southern Indiana is quickly becoming a hub for manufacturing and technology, including medical technology,” 1si CEO Wendy Dant Chesser said in written remarks. “The decision by HealthTrackRx to open a facility in Clarksville is added confirmation of the region’s appeal for companies like theirs. HealthTrackRx is a welcome addition to the impressive array of businesses who have chosen to locate or expand here.”
The facility is located inside a former storefront along Lewis & Clark Parkway. Dant Chesser says the company’s investment is a perfect fit for the town’s master plan to redevelop the area to attract more companies and jobs.
A spokesperson for HealthTrackRx tells Inside INdiana Business the company plans to begin hiring within the next couple of weeks, with operations expected to begin in November.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered HealthTrackRx up to $725,000 in conditional tax credits, which the company will not be eligible to claim until Hoosier workers are hired for the new jobs. The town of Clarksville has also offered a five-year, $110,000 forgivable loan for the project.
