Our partners at WTHI-TV report the 46,000-square-foot clinic will serve some 10,000 veterans from throughout the state.
The clinic is set to open December 20 at 5080 East Bill Farr Drive in the Vigo County city. The facility will provide both primary care, mental health services and specialty services, including audiology, physical therapy, optometry and a pharmacy.
Clifford Stephens tells WTHI the new clinic will help veterans like him who currently have to make several long trips to Indianapolis to receive care.
“Up there twice a year to get my eyes checked, I get my blood drawn down here. If I have to have a thyroid check or see someone about a knee replacement or something like that…I have to go up there,” Stephens said. “A lot of guys don’t get travel pay, and so it helps out because a lot of these guys are on a really tight budget. So, that’s what a lot of them are excited about because it’s going to save them money, and they get quicker service.”
Plans for the clinic were unveiled in December 2019. When it opens, the clinic’s hours of operations will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
