Dyer comes to the newly-created role after serving as executive vice president for advancement and strategic initiatives at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. There, she led several large-scale projects including the building of the Knoerle Sports Center. All together, she has 27 years of higher education fundraising and project development experience.
“My unique experiences in higher education afforded me the opportunity to prepare for this important role serving the community,” Dyer said in a news release. “I’ve had the opportunity to help facilitate and implement large campaigns to bring significant projects and initiatives through the finish line, while also managing communication strategies to increase visibility, and serving the community on amazing boards.”
The bureau said in her new role, Dyer will plan initiatives and support long-term growth in line with the city’s tourism expansion goals.
“With an additional 1.1 million new visitors expected in 2024 at the opening of the casino and the ever-growing expansion of venues such as the Terre Haute Convention Center, Lavern Gibson Cross Country Course, Griffin Bike Park, The Mill, and the potential upcoming indoor/outdoor sports facility, and more, visitor awareness is part of the strategic plan for retaining regular visitors to our community,” said David Patterson, Executive Director of the THCVB, in the release. “We aren’t just working to have them visit one time, we want to create memorable experiences that retain their interest in Terre Haute.”
Dyer begins her role Jan. 1.
