The Tribune-Star reports the opening of the Larry Bird Museum will be a year behind the opening of the convention center.
Ohio-based Hilferty and Associates, which is responsible for planning the museum, is still involved in discussions over key exhibits to showcase the Indiana State University basketball legend and NBA superstar.
Construction of the convention center is expected to be complete in the spring. But the publication says the space designated for the museum has been set aside and remains a blank slate.
The preliminary design for the Bird museum includes options such as video screens, message crawlers and fabric structures. Hilferty says designing the museum space will take about six months to complete and another six to nine months for installation of audio-visual equipment and other exhibits.
