Tennessee Company Adds Major Hoosier Homebuilder

Financial terms for the Clayton Properties Group deal for Indianapolis-based Arbor Homes are not being disclosed. The new owner is a division of Tennessee-based Clayton Home Building Group, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate.
Arbor Homes is billed as the largest home builder in Indianapolis. The company says it closed on nearly 1,000 homes last year and it expects to close on a total of 1,200 homes by the end of this year. President Curtis Rector, who founded Arbor Homes, says "joining Clayton gives us the platform to continue this journey on an even greater scale. We are excited about this partnership and the future of Arbor and Silverthorne Homes." Silverthorne Homes is Arbor Homes’ sister company that was founded 14 years ago.
Clayton Home Building Group President Keith Holdbrooks says "we immediately recognized their level of expertise and commitment to building high-quality, affordable housing. With a current average home sales price of $199,000, Arbor Homes fits a niche price point between our off-site and on-site builders—we’re excited about the potential opportunities to shape the future of affordable housing."
Clayton Properties Group has made a total of seven home builder acquisitions since it launched in the mid-1950s and now has a presence in Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.
