Televerde has two other contact centers in Indiana with the Rockville Correctional Facility and the Madison Correctional Facility. All three locations currently employ 127 women.
The new location at the Indianapolis maximum-security facility has a headcount of nine, but the company plans to expand.
“Televerde is a shining example of how businesses can play a significant role in rehabilitation and reentry,” Lloyd Arnold, chief operations officer of Indiana Correctional Industries, said in a news release. “Together, we’re providing these women with a real chance at a new life while also contributing to the safety and well-being of our communities.”
Over 25 years, Televerde has employed about 3,500 women who are incarcerated in Arizona, Indiana and Florida. The company said 94% of them advance into professional careers in sales, marketing or technology.
The company said the women within its prison workforce development program are “compensated fairly” and receive business and IT training. Televerde did not respond to an Inside INdiana Business inquiry regarding the pay rate in time for publication.
“The launch of our new Televerde contact center at the Indiana Women’s Prison signifies more than just the growth of our operations,” Televerde CEO Chris McGugan said. “It’s a powerful demonstration of how strategic collaboration can fuel social transformation and business performance. We’re eager to assemble another high-performing Televerde team in Indiana, poised to drive exceptional business outcomes for our clients.”
