The $5 million facility, which will be leased by Virginia-based Alion Science and Technology Corp. is expected to create up to 24 jobs in its first year of operation.
The tech park says the 40,000 square-foot facility will be known as WestGate Building 7. WestGate@Crane Development Co. owner Dale Ankrom says Alion, which is already an office space tenant at the park, has signed a 10-year lease.
"For the WestGate Authority Board (this) is great news because our funding is determined based on taxes paid by employees," said WestGate Authority Board member Phil O’Harver. "So it’s good for WestGate Authority, it’s good for the Tech Park and it should lead to more development. It also gives us some opportunities now that we have another building (being constructed)."
Ankrom says the facility will have between 12-24 employees from Bloomington and Delaware in the first year, 30-35 employees within five years and 42-60 employees within 10 years. The facility will be located in the Daviess County portion of the tech park.
WestGate says the last new construction in the park was a child care facility built in 2013. The project is scheduled to be complete in November 2017 and
