Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend will again host a Symetra Tour-Road to the LPGA golf tournament. Nearly 150 golfers are expected to take part in the June event.

South Bend, Ind. — The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and its Four Winds Casinos are proud to announce that the 2015 Four Winds Invitational will be held from Friday, June 19 through Sunday, June 21 at Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend. The tournament will feature a field of professional women golfers from around the world competing on the Symetra Tour – Road to the LPGA. The 2015 tournament will include 144 golfers who will be playing for a $150,000 purse.

“We are thrilled that the Pokagon Band and its Four Winds Casinos will continue as the title sponsor for the Four Winds Invitational,” said Tim Firestone, General Manager, Blackthorn Golf Club. “The Four Winds Invitational has been a resounding success over the past three years as it was voted the best event on the 2014 Symetra Tour. Additionally, several of the athletes who have played in the Four Winds Invitational have moved on to the LPGA tour including our 2012 and 2013 champions, Julia Boland and Cydney Clanton.”

“We are pleased to continue as the title sponsor for the fourth annual Four Winds Invitational,” said John P. Warren, Chairman of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. “Over the past three years, the tournament has had an economic impact of more than $500,000 to the local economy and provided more than $200,000 in charitable contributions to worthy causes such as Memorial Children’s Hospital.”

Several other Symetra Tour events, including the Four Winds Invitational, will be part of the second annual Potawatomi Cup. It awards Symetra Tour players a bonus based on performance at events sponsored by five Potawatomi nations’ casinos.

“The Four Winds Invitational is a first-class event and we’re excited to continue to bring the future of the LPGA Tour to South Bend,” said Mike Nichols, Chief Business Officer of the Symetra Tour. “The tournament provides our players with a great course, great hospitality and a great purse so I expect the competition to be fierce down to the final hole.”

The 2014 Four Winds Invitational was held from Friday, June 20 through Sunday, June 22, at Blackthorn Golf Club, located at 6100 Nimtz Parkway, South Bend, Ind. The tournament featured a field of professional women golfers from around the world competing on the Symetra Tour – Road to the LPGA. Nicole Vandermade finished 12 under and won the 2014 tournament.
