The Indiana Department of Transportation awarded more than $1 million to the city to fund the project. The city says the trail is the first addition and expansion of the Sullivan Greenway System, also known as The Sully.
The name pays homage to the original Lover’s Lane, which was a walkway in the early 1900s that once led to the city’s first hospital. It is currently located outside of the historic Carnegie Library.
The groundbreaking is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Monday on the southwest corner of downtown square in Sullivan.
