Subaru Extends Shutdown into May

SIA said Tuesday because of declining market demand and supply chain issues, SIA will continue to keep the plant closed through May 8.
The company said it plans to resume production on May 11.
SIA employs 6,000 people in the Lafayette area.
The company paid hourly workers full wages for the first three weeks of the shutdown. However, SIA says a furlough became effective for them this week. Hourly employees continue to receive their health insurance and other related benefits.
The company originally idled production on March 23.
