Results of a Phase II feasibility study on the proposed 2,100-acre Mounds Lake Reservoir in Madison and Delaware counties have been unveiled. Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report the study produced “no red flags” that would keep the project from progressing. You can connect to the Phase 2 report by clicking here.

The publication says the study examined broad factors, including environmental impacts, design and cost.

Madison County Corp. for Economic Development Executive Director Rob Sparks says a Mounds Lake Commission will need to be set up and ordinances to move forward will then be presented to the affected municipal governments in March.

Those include county councils and commissions, as well as the Anderson City Council and town councils in Chesterfield, Daleville and Yorktown.

A local group opposing the project, The Heart of the River, has released another open letter asking Sparks to “abandon this divisive reservoir proposal that will never happen.”
