Fifteen teams of IUPUI students will present their ideas for new products or ventures in the elevator pitch-style competition, which awards a total of $5,500 in prize money.
Teams will have three minutes to pitch their ideas, followed by a two-minutes of questions from the panel of five judges. The first place team will earn $2,500, second place earns $1,500, and third place earns $500. There will also a $1,000 award given to the "best pitch" chosen by the audience.
"JagStart is a different approach to building entrepreneurial capabilities in students and in the community. It focuses participants on building and refining ideas and relationships over time," said Joe Albano, founder of Logika International LLC and The Indy Startup Challenge and a former JagStart judge. "There are lots of programs to teach the mechanics of entrepreneurialism; JagStart reminds participants that business-building is primarily a human endeavor."
Last year, Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus student Autumn Fox took home the top prize for her "Ecopatch" project. You can learn more about JagStart by clicking here.
