The event will feature more than 50 employers and training partners at Notre Dame’s Stepan Center with a goal of giving students a first-hand look at construction-related jobs in the region.
The event will be open to students from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Then, it will be open to the public from 4-6 p.m. so additional students, parents, educators and job seekers can learn more about regional career opportunities.
“The goal of Building Trades Day is to elevate the public perception of building trades careers and the valuable role trades people and the construction industry play in the economic growth of our region, state and country,” Chamber CEO Jeff Rea said in a news release.
Parking is available in Notre Dame’s White Field lot with shuttles taking attendees to the Stepan Center.
The South Bend Chamber is partnering with the University of Notre Dame, the Michiana Area Construction Industry Advancement Fund (MACIAF), St. Joseph Valley Building Trades and the Greater Niles Chamber to put on the event.
“We believe there’s a powerful impact on students when they can see first-hand the education and career opportunities available in our region,” said MACIAF Executive Director Shawn O’Brien. “And the idea of being part of a team literally BUILDING our community can positively influence their education and personal choices and provide inspiration as they envision their future.”
A full list of participating employers is available on the South Bend chamber’s event page.
